On Thursday 18th November a group of citizen scientists met up with our new Ecological Programs Manager, Victoria Austin, to officially restart our citizen science ecological monitoring program after many months of lockdown.
Victoria was joined at the Fairfax Track site in Blackheath by our citizen scientists Paul Vale, Keith Brister, Lorraine Brister, Chia Moan, Emma Koch and Tamara-Brooks Venables. The group went on a data collection expedition and serviced the fauna camera traps.
By all accounts, the group were happy to be out in nature again. “It’s great to be back in the field!” said citizen scientist, Emma Koch.
They were joined by our Eco-Arts ‘Recovery’ documentary film crew members Justin Morrissey and Andrew Gelao, who are interviewing our citizen scientists for the documentary that will be screened on December 12 at the BigCi artist centre in Bilpin.
We will resume monitoring of all our sites across the upper and mid mountains over the coming weeks. Stay tuned for more updates as our teams get back into the field, and for the public release of the Eco Arts ‘Recovery’ documentary on Monday 13th December.
