GOVERNANCE


The Blue Mountains World Heritage Institute is a Company Limited By Guarantee regulated by the ACNC and the Corporations Act (2001).

The Institute is listed on the Government Register of Environmental Organisations, and is therefore granted Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status, so donations to the Institute are tax-deductible.

Each member organisation pays a membership fee to the Institute and is entitled to nominate one representative as a director on the board.

FUNDING

Our funding is derived from government research grants, benefaction, sponsorship, fees for services and from the annual contributions of our member organisations.

FOUNDING MEMBERS

The Institute was founded in 2004 in response to the World Heritage Listing of the Greater Blue Mountains in the year 2000. Recognising the need for a dedicated centre of research, the Institute was formed by a consortium of 9 members including universities and government agencies.
